In 2007/2008, the National Reading Centre (NRC) at the University of Stavanger, Norway, accomplished the project "La joie de lire" - production of modern books for children in Madagascar - with the Edition Vakoka Vakiteny as its national Malagasy partner.

Vakoka Vakiteny was founded in 2007 by workers of Green Schools Bara – a pilot school project within the Green Education Programme in FLM (ProVert). Vakoka Vakiteny still cooperates with Green School Bara for production of modern and creative school materials.
