Our vision: Toliara Talent Centre
|
| Toliara is a lively costal city in the hot South-West of Madagascar. It is known for its quality of life, its young scene and its particular music and dance. |

Vakoka Vakiteny
has the vision to establish a
Talent
Centre
that combines the edition of quality books in Malagasy with a modern
gallery for art, a training and communication studio and literature
café. Together this will form a forum for modern Malagasy literature and
illustration. |

Toliara
Talent
Centre
stimulates the production of quality literature and illustration in Malagasy and out from a Malagasy context,
helps Malagasy writers and illustrators to market their products and
will be a reliable partner for everyone who wants to stimulate and
promote art, culture and education in Madagascar. |

Toliara Talent Centre
will become a forum for modern Malagasy art and literature and
contribute to the development of the island - culturally and materially.
It includes the following

Edition-
provides Malagasy authors and illustrators the
ability to publish and promote their products in a professional manner
- works for the distribution of books in Malagasy to readers and promotes the joy of reading and the understanding for literature and art in a modern Malagasy context - promotes the quality and extent of the literature on Malagasy and strengthens the use of the Malagasy language |
Gallery -
gives young Malagasy illustrators, graphics and other artists the
opportunity and a forum to set out and publish their products; - is a forum where Malagasy artists will be seen and can make contacts with artists and arts organizations nationally and internationally; - promotes awareness of and arouse interest in Malagasy art and modern literature. |
Studio -
provides the basic knowledge of artistic techniques and styles - provides young artists the opportunity to experiment with different techniques to find their own style and way of expressing themselves - is a centre for transfer of competence |
Café -
is a meeting place between people who are interested in books and
illustrations; - provides information about contemporary Malagasy art; - is a forum for the reading of good books in Malagasy and organizes various activities about literature and art for children and adults; - gives young Malagasy writers and illustrators opportunity to market their products. |

Toliara Talent Centre is planned to be built not far from
Toliara city centre, and will be a modern building including all
the four components of the Talent Centre. It is intended to be
finished in 2010 and it will then play an important role within
the literary and artistic life in Madagascar. |
